Bathing at Asnieres

This painting is by Georges Seurat from 1884. He used oil on canvas. I like how Seurat used to idea of pointallism in most of his paintings. This painting is also a rather large piece of art (6'7" x 9'10") therefore it probably took him longer than usual. This painting shows some clothed and half-clothed men, clearly supposed to be working class, men relaxing and bathing by a river. I think it is interesting how in the background there are smokestacks that are darkening parts of the sky.
