A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte

This painting is one of Georges Seurat's from 1884-1886. I find it interesting that Seurat spent two years developing this painting and how large the actual size of the art is. He seemed to have concentrated on the issues of color, light, and form in this painting and most of his other paintings. It is amazing how Seurat was able to create the entire painting by using contrasted miniature dots, and founding the form of pointillism. The color of the dots, through optical unification, from one single hue when looking at the painting. One thing that I noticed is that Seurat actually painted a border/frame, made of small dots also, around the painting, itself. At first, most wouldn't notice the frame, but I think that it is a major part of the painting.
