Green and Maroon

This painting is known as Green and Maroon. It was painted by Mark Rothko in 1957. The medium used was oil on canvas. His attempt in making this painting is to show the human experience in its purest form. I honestly do not understand this painting at all. In my opinion this painting tells no story and provokes no feelings. All his paintings contain different colors with different size rectangles. I can honestly say that I do not see anything in any of his paintings and have no understanding of them at all.
