woman playing cello

oil on canvas
Hungarian National Gallery
1928
Robert Bereny

I was lucky enough to get to go to Budapest 2 years ago and visit the Hungarian National Gallery. Among all the paintings, this one really stood out to me, although I can't exactly figure out why. I think its great how the artist was able to convey the proper hand technique of playing a cello--relaxed but still firm hand hold of the bow and curved fingers to press down on the strings--even though the painting is not that precise, if that makes any sense.
