Blossom

Blossom was made of synthetic velvet and fabric dye by Polly Apfelbaum in 2000. This piece has been featured in the MoMA but it isn't currently on view there. When I first saw this I thought it was just a pretty arraignment to look like a flower blossom. however once I read the description it was clear that the artist intended something else. This is supposed to be an abstract portrait of the PowerPuff girl Blossom. I included both pictures and honestly I don't see the connection, which is probably the whole point. I really do like this piece, i think it would be cool if it were made of tile and was used in home decoration.
